Naru: People Vote For Prime Ministers

In light of recent events surrounding the Prime Minister’s Arrest Warrant saga, Morobe Governor, Kelly Naru, says if the Prime Minister’s position is becoming a business, then powers of voting must be given back to the people who need to be served.

Governor Naru's response to the issue is to have a nationwide vote for the Prime Minister’s seat, to avoid the tussle for the post between Political parties.

He says unstable political parties have been an issue, with politician’s switching parties and going after the Prime Minister’s spot.

“The Prime Minister is constantly looking at his back to see where the next arrow is coming,” he says.

It comes after Prime Minister, Peter O'Neill blamed his recent arrest warrant on political motives.

But, the independent candidate suggests a change in the whole concept of how Prime Ministers are elected and governments are formed in our country.

Meanwhile, the political registrar looks to amend organic laws and constitutional amendments in order to strengthen political parties and put to order those in disarray.

Political Party Registrar, Dr. Alphonse Gelu’s view on the matter as the top Political Party Regulator, is to see how political parties react.
