Naru Lashes Out

Whilst speaking at the opening of a new library at the Lae Secondary School on Friday, Morobe Governor, Kelly Naru, lashed out at the Provincial Education for incompetence.

Governor Naru’s reaction comes after Morobe Secondary School’s showed poor results in last year’s examination results.

Provincial Education Advisor, Murika Bihoro says steps have been taken to improve the results.

In its quest for academic excellence through improving vital infrastructure, the Lae Secondary School has built and opened a new library facility.

At the opening was Morobe Governor Kelly Naru, who has raised concerns about the state of the education in the Province.

Governor Naru has made intentions known to take a tougher stance on public servants, tasks to improve education in the province.

The Governor’s Outburst come after Morobe didn’t put a large number of students in Universities.

Also speaking at the opening was provincial education advisor Murika Siria Bihoro, who says the provincial education is addressing teacher shortages and is looking to employ teachers from India and the Phillipines.

Bihoro has a department task to advise the provincial government to address the drop in students entering universities to take engineering and science courses.

The challenges for teachers and stakeholders have been ongoing group fights and drug problems within schools.

On Friday the opening of the new library sees the effort in infrastructure from Lae Secondary to maintain its academic excellence.

The new two stories library is a modern facility with computers for the students, bookshelves and it’s the first for any secondary school in the country.
