The search for a 24 year old suspect who allegedly killed a 44 year old man in Mt Hagen City is still continuing by police.
The suspect from mix parentage of Western Highlands and Enga Provinces is on the run, after he allegedly murdered the former rugby league player of South Highlands and Gulf parentage.
The incident happened two weeks ago at a night club in Mt Hagen City in the early hours of November 30th in Mt Hagen.
Police report revealed that the 44 year old deceased, Late David Ako was drinking beer at the Sunrise night club, when he was punched from behind on his jaw and head, by the 24 year old suspect without a warning or a prior argument.
Late David was rushed to the hospital, but was pronounced dead on arrival.
“He was hit on the right side of his jaw, and he fell down, was conscious, was taken to the hospital but died on arrival” says WHP PPC Chief Inspector, Jacob Kamiak.
When the matter was reported to police, they raided the suspect’s family home, but did not find McKenzi Mura.
His mother promised the police that she will hand in the suspect when he returns home.
“Investigation is still continuing. The suspect is still on the run. He comes from a known family in the province, and as the PPC I’ve spoken to the relatives to have him surrender to police” says PPC Kamiak.
The investigation and the search to apprehend the suspect is still continuing.
Provincial Police Commander, Chief Inspector Jacob Kamiak is appealing to the family and the relatives of McKenzi to work with the police and hand in their son.
Kamiak is also appealing to the late David’s relatives to keep calm and assist the police in this investigation.
