Members of the Melanesian Spearhead Group will be arriving in the country soon to attend a Sports Committee Meeting in the nation’s capital.
This meeting falls under an initiative after MSG members recognized Sport as one of the areas of human activity that can unite citizens of the MSG countries from all walks of life, utilizing it as a tool for self-development for the youth.
After recognizing sport as an instrument for uniting all Pacific nations, and combining the ideas and knowledge of the youth, Papua New Guinea has taken the liberty to host the two day Melanesian Spearhead Group Sports Committee meeting, as per agreement in Vanuatu earlier this year.
Peter Tsiamlili, CEO of PNG Sports Foundation confirmed this was the perfect opportunity to give our fellow Melanesian’s an insight into the country’s exciting sporting calendar for the next 12 months.
For the first time since the inception of the MSG, an official representative from the Front de Liberation National Kanak Socialist (FLNKS) Poliotical Bureu of New Caledonia, will chair the meeting as confirmed by Deputy Director General, Molean Kilepak.
Director of Programs, Barbara Age, confirms a number of social and administrative issues will be main talking points at the meeting and will be addressed accordingly.
At the end of the two day Meeting, delegates will be given the opportunity to view PNG’s sports facilities and infrastructure currently under construction for the 2015 Port Moresby Pacific Games.
