Miss IBS University Joins the Race: 2019 Miss PNG Pageant

By Patricia Keama – EMTV News, Port Moresby

The Institute of Business Studies University has announced its contestant for the 2019 Miss PNG Pageant.

Among an initial field of nine contestants from both the IBS TVET College and IBS University, 22 year-old Magarita Sariman has been chosen.

Hailing from Kairiku District in Central Province, she will join five other young women in the quest for Miss PNG 2019.

Reigning Miss PNG and Miss Pacific Islands, Leoshina Kariha, encouraged the contestants to use the opportunity given.

“Young women and girls who are facing similar challenges, use this opportunity to voice your concerns,” said Miss Kariha.

The institution has been participating and supporting the pageant since 1996.

The Miss PNG contest has transcended from a beauty pageant to a platform used for empowering women to voice their concerns on pressing issues and by the end of this month, Papua New Guinea will have a new cultural ambassador to represent the country in the regional pageant, the Miss Pacific Islands Pageant.
