Marijuana and home brew are causing many young people to lose their common sense. Many of them now end up in mental hospitals and calls are being made to the government to address this sooner.
Marijuana and home brew have many negative outcomes that are the cause of countless young people becoming mentally ill.
Laloki Psychiatric Hospital Chief Executive Officer, Getzo Yamele, said the number of patients they have admitted is increasing and most of them are youths.
He said many of them are victims of marijuana.
Mr Yamele said the Government must seriously look into this and address it.
He said social problems and violence are increasing because more young people are taking marijuana and home brew.
Recently the National Government has passed legislations that imposed tougher penalties for illicit drugs, home brewed beer and violence against women and children.
People who are found guilty of committing such crimes will face the maximum penalty by law.
Mr Yamele urged youths to take responsibility of their lives and refrain from taking marijuana and home brew.
