PNG Power will carry out a temporary emergency power outage on the Ramu System on Saturday and Sunday this weekend.
This is to allow linesmen to do maintenance work at the Ramu 1 switch yard and Singsing creek area, after a transmission tower at Kassam Pass was hit by a truck carting container.
The outage will affect power supplies to Ramu Sugar, Kainantu, Walium station, Madang town, Lae, Nadzab, Leron Station, and Mutzing station.
Load shedding in Lae and Madang will be carried out if there is any unexpected shortfall in the generation capacity for these days.
Customers are advised to check the daily newspapers for load shedding schedules for the 2 days.
Electricity customers with standby generators are asked to use them during this emergency outage. The outage will be daily between 8am – 6pm and may pro-long if maintenance work faces any difficulties.
