Students at the Lae Secondary School today contributed money and food items for their teachers who were put off payroll.

This comes after majority of the schools teachers were not paid their salary this fortnight.

Teachers expressed their grattitude to the students for their support

On Wednesday, Forty-One Lae secondary teachers found out that their salaries were not deposite into their accounts.

From then, the school administration has taken over to find out why the teachers were not been paid.

Yesterday, the students representative council organized contributions from students with contributions amounting to almost K1000.

Contributions were handed over to the teachers and the school principal expressed his heart filled gratitude to his students.

There was a grade 12 class that contributed in kind with food items been given to their 5 subject teachers.

All These contributions are for teachers to sustain themselves this pay period.

This year 369 teachers in Morobe Province were put off payroll; some of them deceased while others have not filled in their resumption of duty forms.

Lae secondary teachers however have continued teaching after getting confirmation that these fortnight salaries will be included in the next fortnight.
