Lae Primary School Launches 5 Year Development Plan

Gantom Primary School in Lae has made history in launching their 5 year infrastructure development plan for the first time, since its establishment in 1981.

This was done to address problems such as low quality education, unsafe learning environments, and to cater for the overcrowding of classrooms.

The Primary school is located at West Taraka settlement, an area known for law and order issues.

The school had not received any sort of funding, from both the District through the DSIP funds and the Morobe Provincial Government.

It has problems with water supply, overcrowding of students, and no proper sanitation system.

” Our students use pit toilets,” Mathilda Tanialu.

The District Education Manager said the government’s TFF Policy is not working, and is calling on parents to support the school.

The new development plan will help the school progress and lessen some of its problems.
