Lae Prepares for Independence Mountain Bike Race

The hype towards the independence Rosso Cup Mountain bike race challenge is evident, with over 200 participants registered in the past week, with more expected this week.

While a few cyclists can be seen around in Lae, this event is expected to bring them all together for the race this next month.

Yesterday 4 new mountain bikes were handed over to the Forestry Research Institute team.

The hype of this event however is not just for the young. Although not present, one of these bikes will be given to a 61 year- old woman from Yalu who has also registered.

Lae MP, John Rosso says, this is being done in the hope to bring everyone together, as well as to reignite the days when BMX bike riding was a favorite past time for Lae kids.

The race will take place on the 19th of September, with prizes to be won and COVID-19 measures will also be observed.
