Lae Community Accuse two men of Sorcery

Two men accused of practicing sorcery have been given notice to move out from their communities after they were found in possession of suspicious items.

The community, led by members of a healing ministry, containers filled with powdered substances and blood, chicken bones, and hair soaked in blood, and underwear, and other items.

Alex Yengre and Ivan Mote are both residents in the As Mambu area along the Backroad area, who are now being suspected of practicing sorcery.

Village Court Magistrate Abvii Burua Wanu, said the community wants to avoid violence on the issue.

“We are following our bylaw in the community and we are giving them a short notice of seven days to move out”, Mr. Wanu said.

Meanwhile police have warned community members not to harass the men, whilst they are still in the Backroad area in Lae.

This incident follows two months after two women in the Bumbu area were attacked after being suspected of sorcery.

One of them was rescued by police, however the other was tortured and killed.
