An awareness program on referendums facilitated by the Office of the Bougainville Electoral Commissioner and the Papua New Guinea Electoral Commission has begun.
This awareness is based on the legal electoral aspects of conducting the referendum.
Bougainville’s Acting Electoral Commissioner, George Manu, revealed the question and answer sessions shows there is a lack of awareness on referendums in South and Central Bougainville.
The onus is now on the responsible authorities of the National and Autonomous Bougainville Government’s to implement these awareness activities.
This awareness program will continue throughout the Autonomous Region of Bougainville.
