Koki Buk Bilong Pikinini Library

By Patricia Keamo, Cadet Journalist – Port Moresby

The Koki Buk bilong Pikinini library was established in the former community library in 2011. The library offers members of the Koki community access to both new and ex-library books with improvements made over the years using support from partners and donors.

Deloitte Australia has stepped in to partner with Buk Bilong Pikinini in the World Class Impact partnership, a program committed to impact 50 million futures by 2050. The partnership came with $A50, 000 from Deloitte Australia to help with sponsoring the Library Learning Centre at Koki Markets and surrounding schools with Buk bilong Pikinini’s library re-establishment kits.

Buk Bilong Pikinini enrols children aged five in their early childhood literacy program which provides the children with an opportunity to read and write English before going to school.

Buk Bilong Pikinini is grateful for this sponsorship from Deloitte Australia as the Koki centre has been without a donor for a while. With this sponsorship, Buk bilong Pikinini will be able to support surrounding schools with kits of 1000 books in ensuring good academic outcomes.
