Justin Olam falls short

PNG Kumul Center Justin Olam has fallen short of equaling former Melbourne Storm legend Marcus Bai’s record as the only home grown export to have won an NRL Premiership.

Olam and his beloved Melbourne Storm were sent packing by last year’s premiership winners Sydney Roosters 14 – 6.

“We lost the first one and we gave ourselves a chance to compete again and it was good,” Olam said of his first two Finals matches before their loss on the third Preliminary playoffs.

Olam said it was finals football and everyone wanted to win.

“The intensity is much more faster than the normal game,” Olam said.

This season is by far his best considering he was playing at the Queensland Intrust Super Cup level at the start of the year.

“I wasn’t expecting that I was gonna play (that) much of a game in the first grade side,” he said.

“I’ve been giving my best every game for the Falcons, I love playing for them…
I’m just lucky I got the chance to play with the big boys at the end”.

Justin Olam or Juzzy is expected to feature in the coming Downer Rugby League World Cup 9s this month before joining the Kumuls for the coming two test matches.
