Juffa: Create Laws to MP’s Using State Asset Over Election Period

Sitting Northern Governor, Gary Juffa, is calling on all sitting MPs not to use State assets as campaign period begins. The sitting Northern Governor strongly believes that State-funded assets should not be used as a political tool by current MP’s.

Juffa told EMTV news, the planned visit by Prime Minister Peter O’Neill to open the operating in Popondetta yesterday was uncalled for.

The Northern Governor said law must be made to stop such practices, “If I get re-elected I will push for laws to address such.”

Yesterday’s gathering was to open the new operating theatre of the Popondetta General Hospital.

But according to Juffa, he says the theatre will not be used.

Governor Juffa also alleged that a group of policemen assaulted locals in Popondetta yesterday.

“Shots were fired by those policemen and they also assaulted some men,” said Juffa.

Police in Popondetta have confirmed the incident. Juffa will be taking the matter to Police Commissioner Gari Baki.

The operating theatre was initiated by the then Somare-led Government.
