Ilimo Dairy Expands Product Line

By Lillian Sopera Keneqa – EM TV News, Port Moresby

This year (2019) will see more farmers in Central Province joining the Ilimo Dairy Farm maize out-grower program.

As the Ilimo herd grows to meet increasing local demand, the need to source feed locally grows.

On December 23rd 2018, the Daisama community in Doura district began planting their newly ploughed fields of two hectares for this year.

It takes approximately 100 to 120 days until the maize is ready for harvest.

Business Development Manager, Gallit Tamir says if local farmers can grow maize, Ilimo will buy it.

The local dairy is now moving into a wider product line of ice-cream, yogurt and dairy snacks which will be made available this year.
