Hohola Rehab Facility under demolition threat

Staff of the PNG Rehabilitation Centre in Port Moresby ‘s Hohola are questioning the demolition of their property’s fence by City authorities.

Property Manager Charlie Kolaip told EM TV News, the organization received no formal notice of the demolition and what development was taking place.

A notice of motion and summons has been taken by members of the rehab centre.

A staff said the organization is concerned as demolition nears the rehab centre. The building structure was built to cater for people living with disability.

“We feed, clothe and assist those with special needs as a community based organization for people in the City”, said a staff.

Support Staff Nile Kapi says the centre has done exceptionally well by providing needs and programs for people living with special needs.

She says the approach by City Authorities is very pitiable.

The Property Manager says attempts to seek answers from the City Hall have been very poor with only verbal reactions.

“No one from NCD has open its doors to us and explain the demolition”, we were told to write a letter expressing our dissatisfaction”, said Mr Kolaip.
