The PNG’Sport Foundation has taken the responsibility of mandating the competency of each province nominated to take part in the 6th BSP PNG Games.

Speaking to Thomas Kahai earlier in the year, the Sport Foundation had plans to travel to each region to run regional workshops to assist provinces in updating their requirements.

These regional workshops ran throughout April to June and with great disappointment, Mr Kahai has confirmed that only 3 provinces have met standing requirements and are to compete at the Games.

Although the preparations of provinces are now at a worrying state, Director of Sport Operations and Development, Peter Chalapan, believes this year’s Games have gained momentum and in perspective, will be bigger than the Pacific Games, attracting more athletes and officials.

The PNG’Sport Foundation has commended the hours put in by the Host Organizing Committee of the 6th BSP PNG Games and again appeals to all provinces to seek assistance from the Sport Foundation as the deadline for qualification is fast approaching.
