Leaders from Hela Province made their way to Port Moresby yesterday, to air their grievances on the lack of developments in the Province.
They are also concerned about the current political climate and its effects on the LNG gas project.
The leaders from the three electorates said their main concern is development for the new province.
The leaders representing Komo Magarima, Tari Pori and Koroba and Koroba Lake Kopiago are asking the government and their leaders why there has been no development in the province since the first shipment of the LNG gas project.
Chairman of Law and Justice in Hela and also representing the people of Komo Magarima, Neslon Beyabe said although the gas is now flowing there is still no proof of development.
Beyabe also said the current issues surrounding the Prime Minister’s arrest are concerns shared by the people of Hela. They said instability in Parliament could affect developments in Hela.
Another leader and Counselor representing the people of Koroba Lake Kopiago, Hebe Alembo added that the Prime Minister’s position should not be challenged.
He said the Prime Minister allowed the LNG project to take place in the province and he should remain in his position until developments take place.
