Heads of five government departments and state agencies today signed their employment contracts. These include Secretaries for the Departments of Finance, Treasury, and National Planning; their contracts – for a period of four years.
These five include:
1. Dr Ken Ngangan – Secretary for Finance
2. Dairi Vele – Secretary for Treasury
3. Koney Samuel – Secretary for National Planning
4. Anna Solomon – Secretary for Religion, Youth & Community Development, and
5. Bill Roo – the Chief Fire Service Officer
Government House was a hive of activity this afternoon as a sizable crowd gathered to witness the signing of employment contracts of heads of several government departments and state agencies.
All five will be serving in their respective positions for four years.
According to Finance Secretary, Dr Ken Ngangan, the next four years will build on reforms within the country’s public finance management reforms.
For Treasury Secretary, Dairi Vele, policy reforms will form the basis of the Department’s work-plans for the next four years, with the department also using the opportunity to develop the next generation of public servants who are coming through the government system.
After Acting for close to a year, Secretary for National Planning, Koney Samuel, has reiterated his Department’s focus on delivering the Third Medium Term Development Plan – through greater cooperation between all government departments and agencies.
