Guardian Class Patrol Boat ‘Nuship Ted Diro’ Presented to Papua New Guinea

Guardian Class Patrol Boat ‘NUSHIP TED DIRO’ has been presented to Papua New Guinea.

The boat is the first of 21 patrol boats that will be gifted to 13 Pacific Island countries and East Timor Leste, under the new Pacific Maritime Security Program to enhance regional stability and security.

The boat will enhance Papua New Guinea’s capability to combat a wider range of maritime threats including transnational crimes, illegal fishing and response to natural disasters.

The new Guardian Class Patrol Boat ‘NUSHIP TED DIRO’s commissioning ceremony will be conducted on the 1st of February, 2019 at HMPNGS Basilisk in Port  Moresby.

The boat was presented to Minister for Defence Solan Mirisim, Chief of Defence Force, Major General Gilbert Toropo, Secretary for Defence, Trevor Meauri and PNG Defence Force officials.
