Governor Soso says Goroka to have a new Market

By Jack Lapauve Jr, EMTV – Port Moresby

The Goroka town market has posed a public concern in the last 10 months with its deteriorating status.

Eastern Highlands Governor Julie Soso says the market will be demolished and new infrastructure built.

Governor Soso says scoping and design has progressed. The Eastern Highlands Governor says the market has been allocated substantial funding of K22 million and advertising by the Central Supply Tenders Board will soon be published for work to commence.

Governor Soso also called on Goroka MP Bire Kimisopa to put aside personal differences to allow this project to progress.

“That still remains an issue for me and Mr Kimisopa to sort out”, she added.

Meanwhile Governor Soso expressed disappointment over the lack of consultation by the National Executive Council over the appointment of the Eastern Highlands Provincial Administrator.

“My PEC has totally disagreed with the decision by the NEC to appoint the new Provincial Administrator”, Soso said.

Governor Soso and the Eastern Highlands provincial executives are now calling on the National Executive Council to uphold their decision.
