Government Accounts Open: Treasury to begin issuing warrants for Government Expenditure

Government accounts officially opened yesterday, Monday, January 14, paving the way for the State to begin payments for programs budgeted for under the 2019 National Budget.

According to the Finance Secretary Dr Ken Ngangan, the opening of Government accounts now allow for Treasury to begin the process of Issuing Warrants for government expenditure items including;

  • Funding for the Tuition Fee-Free Program
  • Health expenditure
  • Funding for Government Departments

Whilst Government accounts have opened, the Finance Secretary has also reiterated the ultimatum given by the Department of Finance for all APEC assets to be returned by this Thursday.

This is to allow for the closure of APEC accounts, with a report to be provided to government.

An update on this exercise is expected to be provided in the coming days.
