Church networking is crucial to addressing social issues affecting women, girls and the youth, in any community.
This messaged was emphasised by the Minister for Religion, Youth and Community Development, Delilah Gore, during her visit to Manus on Sunday 30th November, 2014.
Her visit was aimed at strengthening the church-government partnership initiative, at the district and provincial level.
“Churches are always with the people, therefore it is important that the government involve church in its service delivery agendas,” she said.
She encouraged churches in Manus to develop effective networks amongst themselves to promote their community based obligations to support their members and the people.
The Saint Michael’s Catholic Women’s Association and the PIHI women’s association are some of the groups established in Manus that are driving women’s agendas.
Minister Gore when meeting with both associations reaffirmed the government support by presenting K10, 000 to each group to further their work.
“Use the money to grow the association and improve your life and that of your community”, she said.
She said, there are many issues confronting women that churches have a upper hand to deal with, given the right support from the government.
