Chief Secretary to Government, Isaac Lupari has extended his condolences to the families of the two policemen killed in Southern Highlands, election-related unrest.
Following a meeting of the National Security Advisory Council, Mr Lupari said the government has responded with the call out of security forces to maintain Law and Order in the province.
Security forces have already been deployed into the area.
“We have to utilise the current call out. To have a state of emergency is a long process by law. We cannot afford to do that,”
“The only option available was the call out,” he said.
Mr Lupari said instigators and perpetrators will be identified in the operations and brought to justice to face the full force of the law.
“They must be identified. This is because lives have been lost and properties destroyed,” he said.
