Gas Turbines Under Installation Stage

The two new gas turbines purchased by the Government are under installation progress in Port Moresby and Lae.

Work is scheduled to complete by the end of September and will be commissioned for the Port Moresby system.

The other turbine will be installed at the Lae Wharf under a partnership with PNG Ports Limited.

The project team will move to Lae after completion of work in Port Moresby. Installation and commissioning in Lae is schedule by Christmas.

Once installed, each generator will be only used for peak hours and emergency cases.

PNG Power commended the government of PNG and the Independent Public Business Corporation for the support and bringing these generators into the country.

Meanwhile, PNG Power wishes to advice its customers in Port Moresby that the current load shedding is due to low inflow of water into the Rouna Hydro Power Station.

Again all citizens in the city are advised to practice power and water saving methods.
