With the 2018 ICC Under 19 Cricket World Cup (CWC) in New Zealand just six days away, it has just been released that the Garamuts will be competing in the same pool as cricketing powerhouses India and Australia.
The Garamuts left for New Zealand on Friday.
The 2018 ICC U19 World Cup will feature 16 teams which were divided into 4 pools.
The PNG outfit’s grouping with India and Australia means a steeper climb to victory.
But given their performance two weeks ago in Australia where they won 2 of their 4 matches, there is hope for these young cricketers.
The Garamuts have met Australia at the world Cup once and India 3 times at four different editions of the tournament, and the aim now is to better their previous performances.
And with the added advantage of a new breed of cricketers, the 12-men team will enter this competition as underdogs.
They will face West Indies tomorrow in their first warm up match.
