The rural Bunsil Government station on Siassi Island of Morobe province now has fresh water supply for domestic consumption.
Located in Tewae-Siassi District, the station hosts several important government services and the fresh water will now benefit the wider community.
The project was funded by Tewae-Siassi District Development Authority (TSDDA) under the leadership of the district MP, Kobby Bomareo.
Siassi Island is surrounded by the great Bismarck Sea where water is a scarce resource. The project now pumps bore water from the boreholes by electric water pumps. Fresh water is pumped and supplied to the Bunsil Primary School, Bunsil Lutheran Mission, Bunsil Wharf and other facilities on the island.
Bunsil Primary School is one of the feeder schools of Siassi High School located on Lablab Government Station which is several kilometers away from Bunsil.
The station now has a reliable water source, allowing government operations and ease of burden for locals.
