A foreign company in Lae was told to cease operations today by Morobe’s Provincial Building Board following reports from the public regarding alleged illegal operations.

A building inspection was carried out today by the Provincial Building Board to the commercial business operating as J.Hera Enterprises Limited.

According to the Company’s Managing Director, Habibur Rahman, they were given four different licenses by Lae Local Level Government to operate in the same building without consulting the Provincial Building Board.

J.Hera Enterprises was told by Morobe’s Provincial Building Board to provide the building structure plan of their operations.

According to the Senior Building Inspector, Boney Tangara, the building was constructed to operate as a shop. The plan was submitted by the landlord, More Kaupa, and approved by the Provincial Building Board.

The building is being rented to J.Hera Enterprises who are now operating a food bar, tavern, liquor shop and a recently opened lodge.

According to the business’ Managing Director, Habibur Rahman, the licenses to operate these businesses were approved by Lae Urban Local Level Government.

Mr Tangara said today, that the other operations apart from the food bar and liquor shop were illegal because they were not part of the floor plan submitted by the landlord.

The landlord, More Kaupa, said he will submit a new building plan so the businesses can resume operations.
