27 Provincial Fisheries Officers have successfully completed two new courses introduced by the Kavieng Fisheries College.
College Principal, Jeff Finch, said the college continues to strive and produce specialists who can help improve the fisheries sector.
The Head of the College said research is the new dimension the institution aims to provide with the support of NFA.
The programs introduced are in the field of aquaculture, which covers a certificate in fisheries governance and compliance.
These programs are funded by the National Fisheries Authority to advance the current level of qualification.
“ We will continue to do our best in making attempts to introduce courses which will help the fishing context in the country,” said Principal Finch.
The College is also making attempts to improve its learning facilities. Following the graduation, the College witnessed the opening of its new library and computer lab.
Last year, the Fisheries College opened its new auditorium and student services facility.
Kavieng Fisheries College is the only institution providing technical help in the country’s fisheries sector. This year, the College will also celebrate 40 years of operating.
