By Stanley Ove Jr – EMTV News, Port Moresby

Heduru Moni Limited’s ‘Moni Plus’ officially opened its Alotau Branch on Tuesday (11 December).

This is the fifth branch the financial company has opened this year which presents the people of Alotau and Milne Bay Province with more options in seeking financial services this festive season.

Milne Bay being a maritime province, financial inclusion has been an ongoing issue.

“We can now have access to these important financial services, thank you for coming to Alotau,” said Milne Bay Deputy Administrator, Sharon Mua.

Opening its doors in 1998, Moni Plus has grown from providing small personal loans for salaried employees to one of the biggest licensed financial institutions in the country. Today it has offices in Port Moresby, Lae, Mt Hagen, Kokopo and now Alotau.

“We are now here in Alotau. Our customers can now enjoy a wide range of loan offers. We are flexible,” said Bernard Chan, the founder of Moni Plus.

Moreover the opening also falls in line with the National Government’s pillar of financial inclusion.

Deputy Prime Minister and Alotau MP, Charles Abel, when officially opening the new branch said the Government is keen on seeing financial services reach all people in urban and remote areas of the country. Mr Abel said with technology, this can be achieved.
