East New Britain police are experiencing a severe fuel shortage. Provincial Police commander, Senior Inspector Joseph Tabali says the Police Department has yet to release funding for their fuel supply.
Tabali says his fleet of vehicles will be grounded if worst comes to worst. He says the situation has made it so difficult for his men to attend to complaints.
The PPC says his men are only attending to complains if only the complainants agree to pay for the fuel.
Meanwhile, Mr. Tabali says he has ordered his men to attend to serious crimes only and not petty crimes.
He says the Kokopo police cells are overcrowded and food rations for the remandees are also running low. All these comes amidst a spike in criminal activities in the province in recent weeks.
