Electoral Commissioner, Patilias Gamato is urging all eligible voters in the Nation’s Capital, to enrol before the elections next year.
There are 271 confirmed enrolment locations in the city in the three NCD Open electorates; Moresby North-East, Moresby North-West and Moresby South.
Eligible voters are therefore advised to visit their respective enrolment locations to enrol or check if details are correct on the enrolment list. They can also check if they have already been registered.
However, a full list of locations is yet to be published. Once published, the public will be notified to check at their designated locations. The list can also be accessed through the Papua New Guinea Electoral Commission website on ; www.pngec.gov.pg
Gamato also said electoral roll updating work had started since yesterday. The updates will go on till 20th December 2016.
Records show that in 2012, there were 252, 870 eligible voters registered on the NCD electoral roll.
PNGEC is expecting more voters to be enrolled while those that have moved or have other information pending are also expected to update their statuses.
Private Citizens are also urged not to conduct awareness on the election without the authorization form the Commission as this can cause misunderstanding to the public.
