Electricity For Kokopo District

Vunamurmur and Baravon communities in the Kokopo District of East New Britain now have the access to electricity supply.

This service was commissioned by East New Britain Governor, Ereman Tobaining Junior, and PNG Power Director, Chris Bais in Kokopo recently.

Governor Baining said electricity supply will make differences in people’s living standard.

“This is what my people want and I will continue to work together with PPL in bringing electricity services to the people of East New Britain,” he said.

He thanked PPL to work together with the district and province to roll this service to rural Kokopo.

On behalf of the PPL CEO, Mr. Bais said that the electricity company was proud as the agency of the National Government to play a part in changing the lives of the rural people of Papua New Guinea.

The project was funded by the National Planning Office with a sum of K1 million. It took seven months to complete the construction of this electricity supply project.
