Eight new vehicles were presented to various government departments to improve government services in the Lagaip-Porgera electorate.
Local MP Nixon Mangape said the vehicles will be used to mobilise public servants and deliver government services to rural communities in the district.
The vehicles were allocated to the Porgera Health Centre, Porgera police, Porgera International School, Porgera District Women in Business, the Porgera Urban Local Level Government Council and project officers with the Lagaip Local Level Government.
MP Mangape said the vehicles were purchased after he saw their need to mobilise public servants and deliver government services to rural communities in the district. Mr Mangape said the district is mountainous and hard for public servants to do their work. The MP urged all recipients to look after the new vehicles and use them for intended purposes only and not for personal gains as it is unacceptable.
The vehicles were purchased with the 2014 Lagaip/Porgera District Services Improvement Program at the cost of over K1.4 million.
