Adding to yesterday’s Games Village Touch grand final matches, the men’s match saw a tussle between Sharks and Eagles.
Just as they took the field, the weather turned dull, but in the spirit of New Year’s Eve, the rain was not going to stop the match.
When Sharks and Eagles took the field, the game’s tempo changed. A speedy first half it was, with both sides taking every opportunity to get closer to the try line.
Both sides battled on muddy grounds, and right around the sideline, the supporters were not going to be chased away easily by the rain.
When the Eagles scored their first try in the first quarter, it was countered with one from the Sharks.
They went head to head until the second half when both teams scored a try each. And by full time, both sides drew 2 all.
Going into extra time, another score from the men in blue was equalized by the Eagles.
Just when the buzzer went off in the last 14 seconds, the Eagles touched down with a runaway try.
That gave them a 4 – 3 win over the Sharks and crowned the 2016 Games Village Touch Competition champions.
