It is day 7 at the 5th edition of the Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games here in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan and PNG Swimmers Ryan Maskelyne and Ashley Seeto hit the water this morning in the 50m breaststroke event.
With an entry time of 29.85, Maskelyne clocked in a final timing of 29.47 recording a new personal best whilst taking the national men’s senior open record off Ian Nakmai.
In the same event, team mate Ashley Seeto clocked in 29.22 falling short of his personal best.
Tomorrow’s event will see 17 year old Leonard Kalate and Ryan Maskelyne compete again, this time in the 50m butterfly.
Coming into this competition with the aim of achieving new personal bests, all three swimmers are pushing themselves to the limits.
Maskelyne and Seeto are also aiming to finish in the top 20 in what has proved to be a tough meet.
While in weightlifting, Steven Kari will compete in the 94 kg category at tonight at 7 o’clock Ashgabat time (midnight PNG Time).
