CRU Women Lock Horns

Capital Rugby Union entered round 5 over the weekend with the Premier Women’s matches heating up.

Hard hitters Defence took on Nova, and, 2013 premiers Harlequins took on the Southern Chiefs. Despite the scorching Port Moresby heat, the ladies in green and gold were in search of a win to bolster their climb up the CRU ladder on Oval 1.

The absence of Jill Yalong in the back line proved to be difficult as the experience forward pack crashed an uncharacteristic Nova outfit.

While on Oval 2, Premiers Harlies saw the return of Joan, and posed a threat to the Bright Chiefs outfit. But the experienced and composed 4th placed Harlies bagged a win over the Chiefs in determination to hold on to their title for another year.

Despite the competition shifting to an alternative venue next month, all women’s teams are determined to clinch the title off the Harlequins for 2014
