Continuous Rains Taking Toll on Markham Roads

Continuous rains in the Markham area of Morobe Province have taken a toll on the roads there.

These pictures supplied by Wafi Golpu Joint Venture show sections of the Markham Highway that have eroded due to heavy rains in the area.

Of particular concern is the imminent collapse at two sections; the 9 mile culvert along the Highlands Highway, and a portion of road 2kilometres west of the Markham Bridge along the Bulolo Highway.

Teams from the Provincial and National Works Department have been notified, and will be in the area in the coming days to survey the damage.

EMTV News will be following these developments.
