Commonwealth Games Update: Toua Misses out

PNG Weight Lifter, Thelma Toua, was the first of the six to take the platform today in the women’s 48 kg category. And after snatching 65kgs, the 27 year old went on to clean and jerked 90kg, securing herself a total of 155. Unfortunately Toua missed out on a medal and settled for 4th placing out of 10.

Meanwhile India’s Meerabai Chanu has set the new Commonwealth Games record in this category. She lifted 86kg in snatch and 110kg in clean and jerk, a total of 196kg.

In men’s category, PNG Weightlifter and medal prospect, Morea Baru, will be taking the platform later this evening in the men’s 62kg category.
