The Port Moresby Business College Accounting Department has been accredited to the University of Papua New Guinea under a Memorandum Of Understanding signed today.
This partnership between the University and the Business College, paves way for students to continue their education after completing a diploma in Accounting from the College.
Access to education was the main focus of the agreement signed today.
Vice Chancellor of UPNG, Professor Albert Mellam, said the signing demonstrates the partnership within the sector to provide education to students who wish to continue through higher education.
Under the MOU, students who complete their diploma in Accounting can continue to the degree program at the University.
Head of Accounting, Banking & Finance at the University, Panditha Bandara, said the selection of students from the Port Moresby Business College will be based on their Grade Point Average or GPA marks, and only those with the highest will be selected.
Meanwhile, the Principal of the College, John August said the College will adjust its curriculum to suit the accredited program and provide the best for the students to continue through to university.
The program is not only designed for the students of the college but for staff members who which to continue studies.
