Carteret Islands yet to receive climate change funds

North Bougainville MP, Lauta Atoi, is concerned that the world’s first climate refugees of Carteret Islands in his electorate have not received assistance from any climate change fund.

Just this week, Prime Minister, Peter O’Neill, met with the Green Climate Fund Chairman, Ewen McDonald, and welcomed GCF’s commitment to provide finance for addressing the effects of climate change in PNG.

Mr. Atoi asked the Minister for Environment & Climate Change, John Pundari, to advise the House how he would get GCF’s support for his affected electorate.
