Car crashes at 5 Mile area, whilst under police pursuit

Two men are in police custody after driving recklessly around Port Moresby.

The incident took place around 8 am, at 5 Mile in Port Moresby, where the car crashed into the side of the road whilst being chased by police.

EMTV News, was told by eye witnesses that the car had hit two other vehicles around the Boroko area, before they were spotted by the police, who then pursued them.

A police officer at the scene spoke off camera, told EMTV News, that the car had hit two other cars at the 4 Mile Boroko area before it was spotted by the police, who then pursued the car to 5 Mile before it smashed into the road sign and damaged the stone wall.

The Toyota Mark II, belonging to a relative of the driver, was smashed on the left side of the vehicle.

Eyewitnesses said the car switched lanes, and crashed into the stone wall, going off into the other side of the road leaving behind skid marks.

The relatives of the driver, upon being alerted by the police minutes after the incident, arrived at the scene of the crash, to assess damages done to the vehicle.

Meanwhile, the police also discovered alcohol in the vehicle.
