There are calls for the electoral roll update exercise for the National Capital District to be extended for another 14 days.
Certain community leaders have recommended this in light of an alleged failed electoral update for the Nation’s Capital.
The concerned leaders have written to the Electoral Commissioner, Patilias Gamato, outlining their findings and observations as well as a list of recommendations.
Three concerned citizens, Bonny Igime, Michael Kandiu, and NGO activist, Noel Anjo, and others have written to Commissioner Gamato.
They claim that sources from within the Electoral Commission have revealed that the NCD Electoral Roll Update Exercise has failed due to poor planning and limited time.
The concerned party recommended several points to the Commissioner including extending the NCD roll update period for another 14 days, reverting to the old door-to-door update method.
And if all else fails, activist Noel Anjo said the 2012 NCD Electoral Roll should be used in the 2017 Election.
In the letter to Electoral Commissioner, Patilias Gamato, the men said they have highlighted these issues in order to assist the commission in ensuring a free, fair and safe 2017 elections especially for the NCD.
However, if nothing is done to address the issues, the men say they will seek legal amends by way of a court injunction.
