By Jack Lapauve Jr, EMTV News – Port Moresby Trade, Commerce and Industry Minister Wera Mori is urging commercial statutory authorities to collectively implement government policies. Minister Mori says the commercial authorities must not allow the extractive industries to be in the lime light but push for small basic policies to drive the economy. He meanwhile called on the Treasury Department to release funding earmarked for projects like Sepik Economic Zone, PMIZ in Madang, Simbu Limestone project and the Gold Bullion Project. Minister Mori says the project funding falls under the PIP Program. He says the Department will engage with the authorities to produce a sustained business plan not just to ease the economic situation but bring incentives to the growth of a sustainable income. “ Work must begin as soon as funding is made available”, said Mori. The Trade Minister says the extractive industry will deplete gradually and State agencies must have an economic base where policies are practically workable. Minister Mori says if nothing is done, he says the State will continue to bleed to death with the current economic situation despite improvements. Meanwhile, Minister Mori alluded that the Small Medium Enterprise Corporation will be reviewed in the coming weeks.]]>
