A K10,000 bail has been granted for businessman, Justin Parker,by a three-man Supreme Court bench this morning.

The bench included; Justice David Cannings, Justice Ere Kariko, and Justice Iova Geita. Parker was accused of murdering his employee, Lapan Nason on 6 June 2015.

He was present in court when the decision was handed down, and the bail conditions were explained to him. It was a unanimous decision delivered by Justice Ere Kariko, on behalf of Justice David Cannings, and Justice Iova Geita.

The granting of the bail comes 18 months after the Waigani National Court had refused Parker’s applications for bail twice in 2015. Since September 2015, Parker was in custody at the Bomana Prison, outside of Port Moresby.

It is alleged that the applicant assaulted one of his employee in June 2015. The employee then died as a result of the injuries.

His bail application was granted with 10 conditions. These conditions include; the surrendering of Parker’s passport to the Supreme Court, not interfering with the state witnesses, and to report to the Waigani Court House every Monday until his case is completed.
