Business PNG – Episode 17, 2014

This week on Business PNG, close to K1 billion has been set aside for next year's Pacific Games.

Not only will these funds be utilized for the development of the game’s infrastructure, but part of it will also go directly to local businesses and service providers.

As a matter of fact, the games CEO Peter Stewart added that there is almost no business or service that will not be needed during the preparation, or during the actual games itself. From magnetometers to catering to flowers, the games will demand the supply of a lot of different types of goods and services from Papua New Guinea businesses.

In this episode, Peter Stewart discusses some of the benefits the games will bring to Papua New Guinea businesses. But first, we open the episode with first gas. The ExxonMobil led PNG LNG project last week achieved a major milestone when the Spirit of Hela was officially commissioned by the Prime Minister to be loaded with the first ever shipment of LNG.

Also in this episode, we bring you highlights of the 30th Australia Papua New Guinea Business Forum that was held in Cairns, Australia from the 19th to the 20th of May.
