Students at the University of Papua New Guinea and the surrounding communities now have access to upgraded healthcare facilities and medical equipment.
This was made possible by BSP Life PNG. BSP Life PNG, the life insurance arm of BSP Financial Group, has refurbished the UPNG clinic and has donated essential medical equipment worth K30, 000 through the BSP Community Project program.
The revamped facilities and equipment were made available on Wednesday, 18 March 2026.
The BSP Life team, led by BSP Life PNG Country Manager Nilson Singh, were in attendance to officially launch the completed project.
Speaking at the launch, Singh said this is one of BSP’s effort in helping the community meaningfully.
“Today’s (Wednesday’s) handover marks another meaningful step in our ongoing commitment to community development and health,” Singh said.
“This project will improve access to essential medical services for students, staff, and the wider community, contributing to a healthier and more resilient nation. The University of Papua New Guinea Director of Health Services, Dr. Christopher Kinipi, joined by colleagues from various departments across the university, acknowledged BSP Life for recognizing the clinic’s need for refurbishment, noting that they have not received support of this magnitude for 17 years.
Dr. Kinipi further remarked that BSP Life’s support will go a long way in sustaining the health centre’s operations and its service to students and the wider community.
From the refurbishment project, BSP Life has presented medical instruments including blood pressure and blood glucose test machines, stethoscopes, scales, thermometers, and first aid kits for the clinic’s ambulance. Office equipment including printers, a laptop, chairs, and tables were also provided for the clinic’s staff use, while maintenance and repair work was also done on the building by the UPNG Physical Facilities Management Team.
