BRANDI TO RECEIVE MORE SUPPORT

By Benorah Carrie Hesehing

East Sepik Governor Allan Bird committed to give more support to Brandi Secondary School next year as an appraisal for the good effort put in by the administration and management of the institution, to fund and put up beneficial services in the school this year.

“I would like to congratulate the parents, administration and management of Brandi Secondary School for the job well done.

“Educating a child should be a shared responsibility and should not be regarded as the role of the government.

“I’m proud to see parents taking responsibility for their children.

“If we (the government) continue to divorce tuition fee responsibility from the parents.

“Em ba ol pikinini tu lainim pasin blong kisim olgeta samting fri (the students will learn the attitude of receiving free handouts all the time)”

“I can never be more proud than I am to Brandi Village right now.

“For that, now you deserve government’s support,” said Governor Bird.

Among other development commitments for the school such as the school library and the science laboratory, Governor Bird said his office would ensure that all the technological service under the Kumul Genius Program would be trial at Brandi Secondary school.

The Governor’s office with the National Governments support through the Prime Minister, James Marape, commits a sum of K1 million to Brandi Secondary in monetary value which includes the half re-imbursement for the cost of the bore water supply project self-funded by the school.

Apart from this, the school receives 20 tablets from the Governor’s office. In addition, the East Sepik UPNG Students Association delivered offline e-library for the students to access.

Meanwhile, Governor Bird challenged other institution in the province and country as a whole to follow this lead.

He said parents, administration and management of other institution might want to follow this lead and take ownership of the school for the good of their children and students.

“The government comes to support but you need to take ownership and rise up as well because the school belongs to you and is there to serve you,” he said.

Governor Allan Bird revealed this during the 58th Grade 10 and 23rd Grade 12 Graduation of Brandi Secondary School recently.
