PNG Professional Boxing Association is preparing for the September 10th tournament.

More than 10 fighters are expected to assemble in the boxing ring before facing off in their respective categories at the Sports Inn in Port Moresby next month. The event is deemed to take precedence over any other combat sport held in the country in the last 6 months.

President of PNG Professional Boxing Association Elwin Wafewa confirmed the event is on schedule.
“In this tournament we are bringing in international referee form Australia Brad Borgoley. The purpose of bringing an international Referee such as Borgoley is to make an appeal for PNG Pro Boxing to the World Boxing Organisation (WBO) in the international scene so pro boxers have a dream to move forward” said Wafewa.

The highlight of the event however will see Elias Basa and Nelson Samson going head to head in the middle weight division.

“The main bout will see kick-boxer Nelson Samson and pro boxer Elias Basa facing off for the ultimate showdown” added Wafewa.
